A Must-Visit Destination: Izumo Taisha

Hello, this is Migita Honten.
Today, we’d like to introduce one of Shimane Prefecture’s most iconic tourist destinations: Izumo Taisha!

Standing tall as a symbol of Izumo, the “Land of the Gods,” Izumo Taisha is a sacred place of deep cultural and spiritual significance.

Its massive shimenawa rope, one of the largest in Japan, is truly breathtaking!

By the way, at Izumo Taisha, the proper way to worship is “two bows, four claps, and one bow.”

There are also many highlights to explore, such as the Bronze Torii Gate, Harae Shrine, Musubi-no-Mikoto Statue, and the Pine-lined Path (Matsu-no-Baba).

Here’s a little fun fact to finish:
While it’s commonly referred to as “Izumo Taisha”, its official name is actually “Izumo Ōyashiro.” Make sure to keep that in mind!
